Ch. 2 What was your first encounter with the Internet like?

My first encounter with the Internet was very annoying.  I remember having dial up and having that extremely annoying sound ringing in my ears while it loaded.  The worst part was that my family only had one line and so we couldn't be on the internet and the phone at the same time.  My experience with the Internet included having to ask my parents if I could get on the computer so I wouldn't interrupt phone calls.  I can also recall when my siblings would forget that I was on the phone and would start getting on the internet so I would get that annoying dial up noise in my ear as I would try to be talking to my friends.
The Internet was a different experience than the other forms of mass media, like cell phones for example, because it was a lot easier to learn how to use in my opinion.  With cell phones, it was more complicated to use and there were more steps that you needed to know to add a phone number, text, change your background and even take pictures.  With the Internet, it was much easier to use.  It was easier for me to navigate around a webpage then it was to navigate around my first cell phone.  I think that this was the case because the Internet was much more self explanatory than phones and this made it easier to use, and if you had to figure out how to do something, all you had to do was go to a search engine like Google and Yahoo!.
